Kalimpong Fully Prepared for Polling as Teams Reach All 293 Stations
KalimNews | Kalimpong | 22 April 2026 : Election preparedness in the Kalimpong Assembly Constituency has reached its final stage, with all polling parties successfully deployed to their respective stations. After collecting polling materials from the Distribution/Dispersion Centre and Receipt Centre set up at SUMI, Kalimpong, and completing the tagging of police personnel and vehicles at Mela Ground, teams have safely arrived at their assigned locations across the constituency.
Voting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 AM tomorrow and will continue until 6:00 PM. Following the completion of polling, all teams will return to the designated DCRC to deposit election materials, including EVMs and VVPAT machines, in accordance with established procedures.
A notable feature of this election is the presence of 65 polling stations managed entirely by women polling personnel, reflecting an encouraging step toward inclusive participation in the electoral process. Adequate deployment of CAPF and other security personnel has been ensured at most polling stations, although a small number of locations are functioning without direct police presence.
According to the latest updated final supplementary electoral roll published on 21 April 2026, the Kalimpong Assembly Constituency has a total of 201,619 registered voters, including 100,846 male and 100,773 female electors. The constituency is served by 293 polling stations, supported by 5 additional auxiliary booths.
Among these, the smallest polling station in terms of voter strength is No. 22/286, located at Soureni Forest Village Primary School under Ahalay Gram Panchayat in Gorubathan Block, with just 112 electors (54 male and 58 female). On the other end of the spectrum, the largest polling station is No. 22/289 at Juddhabir Junior Basic School in Mal Busty, Gorubathan Block, which accommodates 1,189 voters (584 male and 605 female).
Geographically, the highest polling stations are Nos. 22/69 and 22/70, situated at Lava Primary/High School at an altitude of 8,010 feet, highlighting the logistical challenges undertaken to ensure voting access even in remote and elevated regions.
With preparations complete and teams in place, Kalimpong stands ready for a smooth, secure, and participatory polling process.
