EC seizes ₹4 lakh unaccounted cash; narcotics worth 27 kg seized in separate raid
According to police, while patrolling in areas under the Jorasanko Assembly Constituency, the FST headed by an Inspector of GST and an officer of Jorasanko police station intercepted a man identified as Prem Kumar Das of the Chitpur area on suspicion.
During a search of his bag, the FST members found ₹4,03,500 in cash. When questioned, the suspect claimed that the money was his business collection but failed to produce any relevant documents supporting his claim.
The money was subsequently seized and deposited at the Kolkata Collectorate Treasury.
In a separate incident, personnel of the Narcotics Cell of Kolkata Police Detective Department seized more than 27 kg of narcotic substance, suspected to be cannabis, and arrested three persons, including a woman.
