Modi said he understands that those who may not have secured the desired outcome in the civil services examination, such moments can be difficult.
"However, this is only one step in a larger journey. Many opportunities lie ahead, both in future examinations and in the many avenues through which you can contribute to our nation. My best wishes for the road ahead," he said.
Anuj Agnihotri, an MBBS graduate from All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur, topped the civil services exam.
Second rank holder Rajeshwari Suve M has a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Anna University, Chennai, while BCom graduate from University of Delhi, Akansh Dhull, has bagged the third rank.
A total of 958 candidates — 659 men and 299 women — have qualified the examination and are recommended for appointment to different central civil services, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) said.

The final results were announced in March 2026, and Anniela secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 893.
Significantly, she is the only candidate from Sikkim to have qualified in the UPSC Civil Services Examination this year, making her accomplishment even more special for the Himalayan state.
Anniela Sherpa hails from Rai Gaon near the New STNM Hospital area in Gangtok. Coming from a humble and modest family background, she has attributed her success to hard work, determination and continuous efforts. Her inspiring journey reflects perseverance, dedication, and a strong commitment to achieving her goals.
Her proud parents, Nima Wangdi Sherpa and Reena Rai, have been a constant source of encouragement and support throughout her academic journey and preparation for the prestigious examination.
Anniela’s academic foundation was laid in Gangtok. She began her schooling at St. Thomas School, Gangtok, and later studied at Holy Cross School, Tadong. Her early education in the state helped shape her determination and academic discipline.
After completing her schooling, she continued her studies and later pursued higher education at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, one of India’s most reputed institutions. At one stage of her academic journey, she also studied at St. Augustine School in Delhi, further broadening her educational exposure.
Her consistent academic dedication eventually culminated in her success in one of the most competitive examinations in the country.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 final results on March 6, 2026. The written CSE examination was conducted in August 2025. The personality test (interview) took place between December 2025 and February 2026. In total, 958 candidates qualified this year for prestigious services including the IAS, IFS, IPS and other central services.
Among these successful candidates, Anniela Sherpa stands out as the sole representative from Sikkim in this year’s final list.
Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang congratulated Anniela Sherpa on her outstanding achievement and described it as a matter of pride for the people of Sikkim.
He praised the dedication and perseverance required to clear the highly competitive UPSC examination and emphasized that her success reflects the growing aspirations and capabilities of the youth of the state.
The Chief Minister also extended his congratulations to her parents, Nima Wangdi Sherpa and Reena Rai, acknowledging their encouragement and unwavering support in her journey.
