MP Teacher Suspended for Mimicking PM Modi on LPG Prices
Saket Purohit, a teacher at the government primary school in Adivasi Mohalla Semarkhedi under Pohri block, was suspended with immediate effect late Friday night under the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules, District Education Officer Vivek Srivastava told PTI.
In the video, Purohit can be heard saying that an increase in gas prices would make people return to eating rotis cooked on traditional stoves, which, he remarked, could narrow the gap between the rich and the poor.
The district education office launched an inquiry after the video went viral, following a written complaint by Pichhore BJP MLA Preetam Lodhi.
In his complaint, Lodhi claimed that such mimicry of the Prime Minister and public representatives by a government teacher violated service conduct rules and conveyed an inappropriate message to society.
Purohit was placed under suspension after the inquiry found his actions to be contrary to conduct rules applicable to government servants, Srivastava said. During the suspension period, he will be posted at the block education office in Badarwas and will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per rules.
However, Purohit told reporters that the suspension was “one-sided,” noting that he neither received a show-cause notice nor was given an opportunity to present his side. “Action taken without a hearing is not justified,” he claimed.
MP Teacher Suspended for Mimicking PM Modi on Rising LPG Prices
FPJ, March 14, 2026, Shivpuri : A primary school teacher in Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, was suspended after a viral video showed him mimicking Prime Minister Narendra Modi while making satirical remarks on LPG cylinder prices.
The teacher, Saket Purohit, posted in the Pohri block, imitated the Prime Minister’s speaking style in the video, saying, “Mere pyaare bhaiyon aur behno, gas ke daam badhe kya? Haan badh gaye… ab aam aadmi bhi chulhe ki roti khayega aur ameer aadmi bhi chulhe ki roti khayega… jo ameer aur aam aadmi ke beech ki khai hai, woh dheere-dheere khatam ho jayegi.”
The video went viral on social media, prompting Pritam Lodhi, MLA from Pichhore, to file a complaint with the District Education Officer, claiming the mimicry and comments sent a wrong message to society and violated the conduct rules applicable to government employees.
Following a preliminary inquiry, the District Education Officer found that Purohit’s act contravened the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services Rules. Based on these findings, Purohit was suspended with immediate effect.
During the suspension, Purohit will be posted at the Block Education Officer’s office in Badarwas and will receive subsistence allowance as per the rules. The District Education Officer has directed concerned officials to ensure strict compliance with the suspension order.
Purohit, however, has claimed that the suspension was “one-sided” and stated that he was not given an opportunity to present his side of the story before the action was taken.
