Among the early outcomes, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has secured three seats, winning Kathmandu–1, Kathmandu–6, and Kathmandu–8. The Nepali Congress has won two seats, taking victory in Manang–1 and Mustang–1. Meanwhile, the Nepali Communist Party has also secured one seat, with Pushpa Kamal Dahal winning from Rukum East–1.

Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda,” former Prime Minister of Nepal, achieved a significant milestone by winning the Rukum East–1 constituency, thereby securing his fifth consecutive term as a member of the House of Representatives. In the contest, Dahal received 10,240 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rival Lilamani Gautam of CPN-UML, who secured 3,462 votes. Nepali Congress candidate Kusum Devi Thapa finished in third place with 3,081 votes. Lakhan Kumar Thapa of the Rastriya Swatantra Party obtained 819 votes, while Sandeep Pun of the Pragatisheel Loktantrik Party received 203 votes.

In terms of overall trends, the Rastriya Swatantra Party is currently leading in 110 constituencies, indicating a strong performance in the early stages of counting. The Nepali Congress is leading in 10 constituencies, while the CPN-UML is leading in 8 constituencies. The Nepali Communist Party is also leading in 8 constituencies.

Other parties are making early gains as well. The Shram Sanskriti Party is leading in 6 constituencies, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the Janata Samajbadi Party–Nepal are each leading in one constituency.

Several prominent candidates are currently leading in their respective constituencies. These include Balendra Shah and Rabi Lamichhane of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” of the Nepali Communist Party, Tosima Karki of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Mahabir Pun, who is contesting as an independent candidate.

This nationwide election witnessed extensive participation. Out of 67 political parties that contested the election across 7 provinces and 77 districts, polling was held in all 165 constituencies at 23,112 polling centres and 10,967 polling stations.

A total of 18.9 million voters were eligible to elect 275 members of the House of Representatives, making the election one of the largest democratic exercises in the country.

The election also saw a large number of candidates. There were 6,541 candidates nationwide, including 3,406 candidates contesting 165 first-past-the-post (FPTP) seats, of which 1,143 were independent candidates. In addition, 3,135 candidates were listed for 110 proportional representation (PR) seats under 63 political parties.

To ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process, extensive security arrangements were made across the country. Security for the election was provided by the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force, and election police, with 339,000 personnel deployed nationwide. In addition, around 222,000 election staff were assigned for the polling process, managing voting activities at thousands of polling locations.

As vote counting continues in many constituencies, more results are expected to be announced in the coming hours and days. The final outcome will determine the composition of Nepal’s 275-member House of Representatives and shape the country’s political direction in the coming years.
