BJP releases second list of candidates for West Bengal Assembly polls

Campaign activity intensifies as candidates announced and outreach begins


PTI, March 19, 2026, New Delhi/Kolkata: The BJP on Thursday released its second list of 111 candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls, fielding Rekha Patra from Hingalganj and Roopa Ganguly from Sonarpur Dakshin.

According to the list, Sabita Barman will contest from Itahar, Dilip Saha from Nabagram, Mitali Mal from Khargram and Gargi Das Ghosh from Kandi.

Anamika Ghosh will enter the fray from Bharatpur, Swapan Majumder from Bongaon Dakshin, Arup Choudhary from Kamarhatim, Sanat Sardar from Sandeshkhali and Mallika Paik from Mandirbazar assembly constituency.

The BJP named Priyanka Tiberewal as its candidate from Entally seat and Sumana Sarkar from Balagarh seat.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, on Thursday launched the BJP's campaign for the high-profile Bhabanipur seat in south Kolkata, where he is set to take on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Adhikari reached Kolkata in the morning from Delhi and headed to Chakberia Road, where he inaugurated the party's Bhabanipur election office and then took part in a rally.

Speaking to reporters, the BJP candidate said he was encouraged by the rally's response and asserted that he would campaign in every part of the constituency.
