Killer addiction: 3 minor sisters jump to death from Ghaziabad high‑rise

PTI, GHAZIABAD, INDIA, FEBRUARY 4, 2026: Three minor sisters died by suicide after allegedly jumping from the ninth floor of a high‑rise apartment in the Bharat City Society area of Ghaziabad early on Wednesday, police and local reports said.

Police received information at around 2.15 am that three young girls had reportedly jumped from the balcony of their ninth‑floor flat in the Sahibabad area. On arrival, officers found Nishika (16), Prachi (14) and Pakhi (12) lying on the ground with fatal injuries. They were taken to a hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.

Authorities said preliminary investigation indicated the sisters had been spending a significant amount of time on mobile phones and were allegedly addicted to a Korean task‑based online gaming application, which may have influenced them. The parents had reportedly objected to their excessive phone use in recent days.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Nimish Patil stated that further investigation suggested the girls were influenced by Korean content and that restrictions placed on their mobile phone use might have contributed to their distress.

Police said family members had restricted the girls’ mobile phone usage recently, which left them distressed and may have triggered the decision to take the extreme step.

The exact nature of the game and its connection to the incident are still under investigation, with police analysing the girls’ digital activity and mobile devices as part of the probe.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Shalimar Garden) Atul Kumar Singh said preliminary investigation suggested that the sisters were addicted to a Korean task‑based interactive "love game", and their parents had objected to their excessive use of mobile phones in recent days.

"Family members had restricted their mobile phone usage for the past few days, which left them distressed and may have triggered the decision (to take the extreme step)," Patil said.

The police received information around 2.15 am that three girls had jumped off the balcony of a ninth-floor flat in a tower of Bharat City under the Teela Mor police station limits in the Sahibabad area. On reaching the spot, the police found that the girls--Nishika (16), Prachi (14) and Pakhi (12) -- daughters of Chetan Kumar, had fallen to the ground floor and suffered fatal injuries. They were rushed by an ambulance to a hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
