Asian Hospital Announces Healthcare Discounts for Working Journalists in Manipur

Initiative launched in collaboration with AMWJU to ease medical expenses for media professionals

KalimNews, 23 January 2026: Asian Hospital has announced a series of healthcare concessions for working journalists in Manipur, offering a 20 per cent discount on hospital admissions and a 30 per cent discount on diagnostic services. The announcement was made by the hospital’s Media Coordinator, Ningthoukhongjam Bobo, who stated that the initiative is being implemented in association with the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU).

Speaking on the occasion, Bobo said the decision was taken as a measure to support journalists who often encounter financial constraints while seeking medical treatment. He noted that the profession frequently involves occupational stress and financial uncertainty, and the hospital wished to extend tangible assistance to the media fraternity. Journalists were encouraged to avail themselves of the facility and make use of the discounts being offered.

The hospital clarified that the concessions would be extended only to journalists who produce a valid AMWJU identity card. It was further stated that the discounts would be applicable exclusively at the designated counter, and the AMWJU card must be presented at the time of admission or while availing diagnostic services.

Asian Hospital also specified that the discounts are provided in addition to the benefits available under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Moreover, beneficiaries under the PMGSY scheme have been informed that they may avail themselves of enhanced benefits, with total discounts of up to 50 per cent by combining the hospital’s offer with scheme-related entitlements.

The President of the AMWJU expressed gratitude to Asian Hospital for the initiative, describing it as a meaningful step towards the welfare of the journalist community in the state. He appreciated the hospital’s gesture and observed that such support for journalists has precedent in Manipur, citing earlier similar initiatives by Babina Diagnostics Centre, Babina Hospital, and Shija Hospital and Research Institute.
