Healer Arrested in Siliguri for Alleged Misuse of Medical Treatment

Healer held for ‘raping’ woman in Siliguri 

MP, DEC 24, 2025, Siliguri : The New Jalpaiguri Police arrested a healer on charges of raping a woman under the guise of medical treatment. The accused has been identified as Nazrul Islam (61), who reportedly ran a chamber in the Bhalobasha More area of Siliguri. 

According to the written complaint lodged by the woman, she had approached the accused nearly eight months ago seeking treatment. The complainant alleged that during the course of treatment, the accused administered some substance that rendered her unconscious and then raped her. She further alleged that such incidents occurred on multiple occasions. 

The woman stated that when she later realised what was happening and confronted the accused, he allegedly threatened her with dire consequences. Following the threats and repeated abuse, she finally approached the New Jalpaiguri Police Station and filed a written complaint. 

The complainant also alleged that the accused had done similar things to several other women. Acting promptly on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested Nazrul Islam on Monday. On Tuesday, the accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court.

Islam allegedly took advantage of his position and manipulated the woman into harmful situations under the guise of providing medical care. He ran a treatment centre in the Bhalobasha More area of Siliguri.

According to the woman’s complaint, she sought treatment from Islam about eight months ago. During her visits, she claimed that the accused used certain substances, which caused her to lose consciousness. She further alleged that he took advantage of her vulnerable state on multiple occasions.

When the woman became aware of the situation and confronted Islam, she stated that he threatened her with harm. After enduring these threats and repeated incidents, she decided to come forward and filed a report with the New Jalpaiguri Police Station.

The woman also suggested that other individuals might have experienced similar concerns during their visits to the healer.

The police acted quickly, launching an investigation into the case, which led to Islam's arrest on Monday. He was later produced in court on Tuesday, and further investigation is currently underway.
