CBI Files Supplementary Chargesheet Against Ex-RG Kar Deputy
MP, 1 Dec 2025, Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a supplementary chargesheet at the special CBI court on Monday against Akhtar Ali, former Deputy Superintendent of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, in an alleged corruption case. The chargesheet also names another person in addition to Ali.
Ali, who oversaw the procurement of equipment at the hospital, is alleged to have been involved in corrupt practices, receiving monetary benefits and undue advantages from a specific organization. Notably, Ali had earlier written to the vigilance commission alleging corruption by then Superintendent Sandip Ghosh.
In 2023, Ali was transferred to Murshidabad Medical College as Deputy Superintendent (non-medical), and later in April 2025, he was transferred again to Raiganj. During this posting, he submitted his resignation, which was rejected, and he was subsequently suspended. Officials at Swasthya Bhavan reported several irregularities in equipment procurement.
