THREE MISSING SILIGURI SCHOOLGIRLS FOUND SAFE AFTER FOUR DAYS

Families relieved as police rescue minors from NJP Railway Station; probe underway into unexplained trip to Howrah

KalimNews, Siliguri, November 24, 2025 : Four days after mysteriously disappearing from their homes, three schoolgirls from Siliguri were rescued safely late on Saturday night from New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station, bringing immense relief to their families and prompting a deeper investigation by Pradhan Nagar Police.

The minors — Priyanka Roy and Monika Sarkar, both Class VII students, and Deepika Roy, a Class VIII student — all residents of Panchanan Colony under Ward No. 1, had left home on the morning of 19 November. They reportedly told their families that they were going to a café to celebrate the birthday of one of the girls and would return within a few hours. They carried small amounts of money and left around 10:30 am.

When the girls failed to return by late evening and repeated attempts to contact them were unsuccessful, their worried families began searching for them throughout the neighbourhood. After hours of unsuccessful efforts, a missing complaint was filed at Pradhan Nagar Police Station. The Anti-Crime Wing subsequently launched an investigation, tracking movements, gathering accounts and reviewing leads as concerns grew over the minors' whereabouts.

The breakthrough came late on Saturday night when Priyanka Roy’s maternal aunt, Pinky Das, called the family and informed them that all three girls were at NJP Railway Station. Police personnel and family members rushed to the location, where the minors were found unharmed and were immediately taken into safe custody. After preliminary questioning, they were handed over to their families.

According to statements given to the police, the three girls had travelled from Siliguri Junction to Howrah in the company of an adult individual. Sources later revealed that the person accompanying them was Pinky Das, who had taken the minors to Howrah before returning with them to NJP Station. The reasons for taking them away without informing the families remain unclear, and authorities are now examining whether the minors acted under any form of influence or persuasion.

The incident has raised multiple questions, particularly regarding the circumstances that led the girls to undertake an unannounced journey outside the city. Pradhan Nagar Police have initiated a detailed probe to determine the motive behind the trip, the role of the accompanying adult and whether any external parties were involved.

With the girls safely reunited with their families, the focus has now shifted to establishing the full sequence of events from the time they left home until their return, ensuring clarity, accountability and the safety of the minors involved.
