Three Militants Arrested in Manipur: Arms, Cash vehicles seized
A 22-year-old cadre of the banned Prepak was apprehended on Friday from her residence at Andro, a senior officer said. Two active members of the banned People's Liberation Army (PLA) were arrested from Khurai Lamlong and Porompat areas on Thursday, he added.
A firearm, ammunition, and unaccounted cash of Rs 60,300 were recovered from their possession. The militants were accused of being involved in extortion activities targeting schools, brick-making units, hospitals, and pharmacies in Imphal East, police stated.
Security forces have been conducting search operations in Manipur since ethnic violence broke out two years ago. More than 260 people have been killed, and thousands have been rendered homeless in the ongoing ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.
The Centre imposed President’s Rule in Manipur after Chief Minister N. Biren Singh resigned. The state assembly, which has a tenure until 2027, has been placed under suspended animation.
Manipur police source: On 07.11.2025, Security Forces arrested an active cadre of PREEPAK, one Phanjoubam Thajamanbi Devi (22) @ Chaibi @ Malemnganbi of Andro Kharam Leikai from her residence under Andro-PS, Imphal East district. From her possession, 03 (three) mobile phones and an Aadhaar Card were seized.
On 06.11.2025, Security Forces arrested 02 (two) active cadres of RPF/PLA from different locations of Imphal East district:
i. Laishram Kishan Singh (31) of Heirok Part-II, Thoubal district was arrested from Khurai Lamlong Bazar under Porompat-PS, and
ii. Selheibam Joysana Meitei @ Joymani @ Malei (48) of Andro Uchon Mayai Leikai, Imphal East district, a s/s Major was arrested from Porompat under Porompat-PS.
From their possession, the following were seized:
i) 01 (one) .38 pistol loaded with 03 (three) live rounds in the magazine,
ii) 02 (two) four wheelers,
iii) 02 (two) mobile phones along with SIM cards,
iv) 02 (two) wallets,
v) Cash amount of Rs. 60,300/ (Sixty thousand three hundred).
