Rozgar Mela 2.0 in Siliguri Sees Unprecedented Turnout as Thousands of Job Seekers Vie for Opportunities

KalimNews, Siliguri, November 15, 2025 : North Bengal’s largest and much-anticipated job fair, Rozgar Mela 2.0, held at Salesian College in Siliguri on Saturday, drew an overwhelming turnout, with thousands of job-seeking youths from across the region participating in the event. Hosted by the Darjeeling Welfare Society, the fair became a platform for young people to connect with leading companies from various sectors offering job opportunities in IT, finance, healthcare, hospitality, retail, and more.

The two-day event, inaugurated by prominent leaders including Rajya Sabha MP and former Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, witnessed an impressive participation of over 60 companies, all eager to recruit talent from the region. The event, which commenced early in the morning, created a vibrant atmosphere as multiple interview sessions, screening processes, and counselling activities were carried out simultaneously in various halls at the college. The spirit of hope and aspiration among the youth was palpable, as candidates from all districts of North Bengal gathered, hoping to secure employment and advance their careers.

Addressing the media, Shringla highlighted that the job fair had successfully created over 10,000 job opportunities for the youth of North Bengal. “This is a significant initiative aimed at not only providing employment but also empowering the youth with the skills and opportunities needed to become self-reliant,” he remarked. The MP also announced that West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose would attend the closing session of the fair on Sunday, where he is expected to personally hand over employment letters to the selected candidates.

The event also saw the participation of BJP state president Samik Bhattacharya, Jalpaiguri MP Dr. Jayanta Kumar Roy, Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamay Burman, and senior RSS leader Ram Lal, among other dignitaries. Shringla’s efforts to bring such an event to the region received appreciation from leaders across the political spectrum, including BJP's Bhattacharya, who praised the initiative as a vital step toward empowering the region's youth.

“This has been one of the most successful job fairs in recent history,” Dr. Roy remarked, adding that the event had exceeded expectations. He urged the youth of North Bengal to fully utilize the opportunities presented by the fair, which would continue through Sunday.

The fair stood as a testament to the growing recognition of North Bengal’s potential as a hub for employment and skill development. In addition to the job opportunities, the fair also emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship, with RSS leader Ramlal stressing the need for youth to explore self-employment and skill-based avenues. During his inaugural speech, Ramlal spoke of India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, urging the youth to focus on innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship as the nation moves toward its goal of a self-reliant economy.

The success of Rozgar Mela 2.0 was also evident early on, with three youths from Mirik and Kalimpong—Kishor Kumar Debnath, Bhavika Pradhan, and Aditya Gurung—securing job offers based solely on their CVs. Two of them were recruited by Ancil Services, and one by Piston Technologies. This early placement underscored the fair’s scale and its effectiveness in matching job seekers with employers.

The fair’s first day ended on a high note with significant enthusiasm from the participants, and organizers remain optimistic that many more candidates will secure placements in the coming days.

As the event progresses into its final day, it is clear that Rozgar Mela 2.0 has become a game-changer for job seekers in North Bengal, providing a significant opportunity for both employment and skill-building. With the Governor's presence on Sunday, the fair will conclude on a hopeful note for the region's youth, potentially setting a new standard for job fairs in the region.

This initiative is not just about providing job opportunities but also about bridging the gap between employers and aspiring professionals in North Bengal, making the event a key milestone in the region's efforts toward economic development and self-reliance.
