Delhi Red Fort blast: One suspect in custody as terror angle emerges

 The blast took place near the Red Fort Metro Station in Chandni Chowk inside a Hyundai i20 car, which had two to three occupants, revealed police


The Week, November 10, 2025, New Delhi : Delhi Police Special Cell on Monday night detained one suspect within two hours after deadly car blast rocked the Red Fort area in the national capital, according to reports.

The authorities are probing terror angle as they believe the suspect has alleged links to Jammu and Kashmir. A team from the Jammu and Kashmir police is also on the spot.

The blast took place inside a Hyundai i20 car, which had two to three occupants. The impact of the blast concentrated on the rear side of the car, which was slowly approaching a red light.

Officials have revealed that there was no crater on the road and the victims did not have any injuries from shrapnels.

The Delhi police chief and the director of the Intelligence Bureau briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the ground situation. He has visited the LNJP hospital to visit the injured. At least eight people were killed in the blast while 24 others were injured in the blast. Six cars, two e-rickshaws and one autorickshaw were gutted in the high-intensity explosion.

The Chandni Chowk market will be closed on Tuesday, the local trade association revealed.

The authorities have also beefed up security arrangements in and around Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi for the final day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir.
