CM Mamata Banerjee Scheduled to Visit Siliguri on 10th November for Review of Post-Flood and Landslide Situation

KalimNews, 7 November 2025: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to visit Siliguri on 10th November for a daylong trip, with her return to Kolkata scheduled for the following day, 11th November. Although an official confirmation from the Chief Minister's office is still awaited, preparations have already begun at Uttarkanya, the state’s administrative hub in the region, to ensure a smooth and welcoming visit.

Sources within the administration have indicated that Mamata Banerjee’s visit will primarily focus on reviewing the post-flood and landslide situation in the region, which includes areas stretching from the Darjeeling hills to Jalpaiguri. The chief minister is expected to closely assess the ongoing restoration and rehabilitation efforts in these affected areas. Following the devastating floods and landslides that caused widespread damage earlier this year, the visit is seen as an important move to gauge the recovery process and provide further directives to ensure faster rebuilding.

As news of her visit spread, speculation also arose regarding a potential meeting between Mamata Banerjee and star cricketer Richa Ghosh in Siliguri. However, sources clarified that Richa Ghosh, the rising star of women’s cricket, is expected to be felicitated in Kolkata soon in the presence of the chief minister, along with other prominent figures, including former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly.

In a move to honor Richa’s remarkable achievements in women’s cricket, the state government is reportedly planning to offer her a prestigious job as part of its recognition for her contributions to the sport. This gesture is seen as a significant acknowledgment of the growing prominence of women athletes from the region.

While the specifics of her itinerary remain under wraps, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s visit to Siliguri is expected to be an important occasion for both administrative review and public engagement. The local administration is making arrangements to ensure that the visit will be productive and well-received by the community.
