11 Nepali Nationals Arrested in Connection with Clash Between Groups in Front of Vidhana Soudha

PTI,  November 21, 2025, Bengaluru :  Eleven Nepali nationals have been arrested, and two minors detained in connection with a clash that broke out between two groups in front of the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, police reported on Friday.

A video of the incident, which took place on November 16, went viral on social media, prompting police to take action.

According to the police, the confrontation involved two groups of Nepali nationals who frequently visit popular landmarks in Bengaluru to create videos in their native language for social media platforms, which often gain traction in Nepal. The altercation allegedly began when one group spotted the other filming reels near Vidhana Soudha, which escalated into a physical fight.

When both groups started attacking each other, police intervened and used minimal force to control the situation.

A senior police officer, citing preliminary investigations, stated that the rivalry between the two groups had been ongoing for about a month, with the fight originally stemming from multiple issues, including a dispute over a stolen mobile phone.

A case has been registered in connection with the incident, and all those involved have been identified. So far, 13 Nepali nationals have been taken into custody, including two minors, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), Akshay M Hakay.

Police suspect that more individuals may be linked to the case, and further investigations are underway.
