Darjeeling and Kalimpong Officers Among Over 527 Transferred in West Bengal’s Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle
Among the significant appointments, Kuhuk Bhushan, the Special Secretary of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, has been appointed as the new District Magistrate (DM) of Kalimpong. Balasubramanian T, who is DM of Kalimpong, has been moved to Dakshin Dinajpur as its new DM. Additionally, Dr. Preeti Goyal, the DM of Darjeeling, has been transferred to Malda, where she will take up the role of DM, while Manish Mishra, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of 24 Parganas, will now serve as the DM of Darjeeling.
In other key changes within the hills, Samiran Mondal, the ADM of Kalimpong, has been promoted to the position of Additional Secretary in the Tribal Development Department. Shekhar Kumar Chaudhary, another ADM from Kalimpong, has been moved to Howrah as ADM. Smt. Maitree Chakraborty, the Senior Deputy Secretary of the Technical Education Department, will now take on the role of ADM of Kalimpong, while Anjan Ghosh, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Diamond Harbour, has been appointed as the new ADM of Kalimpong and Subham Kundal SDO of Mal has been appointed as ADM of Kalimpong.
Further administrative shifts within the region include Suman Mazumder, the SDO of Kalimpong, who will now serve as the SDO of Malda, and Soumyo Ghosh, the Special Land Acquisition Officer (LAO) of Malda, who has been transferred to Kalimpong as its new SDO. Additionally, Priya Yadav, the SDO of Islampur in West Dinajpur, will now serve as the SDO of Kurseong, while Vendavasi Teja, the SDO of Kurseong, will be transferred to Uttar Dinajpur as the ADM.
Other changes in the broader state include the reassignment of Pritam Limbu, the Special LAO of Kalimpong, who will now serve as the District Manager of the West Bengal SC, ST, OBC Development and Finance Corporation in Uttar Dinajpur. Kaushik Chatterjee, the DM and DC of Bishnupur, has been appointed as the Special LAO for Kalimpong.
While the reshuffle touches several districts across West Bengal, the significant changes in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong regions highlight the government's focus on maintaining effective governance and ensuring smooth electoral processes in these strategically important areas. The reshuffle is part of the ongoing administrative restructuring, aimed at improving the efficiency and responsiveness of the bureaucracy as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
