Gen-Z Movement Martyrs’ Families Demand Three Ministries from Government
On Thursday, the Gen-Z Martyrs' Family Struggle Committee organized a press conference in Kathmandu, where they expressed their dissatisfaction with the government, which they claim was formed on the blood of their loved ones. The committee argued that their voices have been ignored by both the government and Prime Minister Sushila Karki despite repeated attempts to raise their concerns.
Ganesh Chaulagain, father of martyr Shreeyam Chaulagain, spoke on behalf of the committee, revealing that, despite submitting multiple memorandums to various ministries, the government had failed to address their demands. He emphasized the deep suffering that the martyr families continue to endure, especially given the sacrifices made by their loved ones for the nation.
The committee's key demand was for the appointment of martyrs' relatives to three crucial government ministries:
-
Ministry of Labour and Employment – Deepak Chaudhary, brother of martyr Bijay Chaudhary
-
Ministry of Water Supply – Bhoj Bikram Thapa, relative of martyr Iswat Adhikari
-
Ministry of Youth and Sports – Kamal Subedi, uncle of martyr Yogendra Nyaupane
The committee made it clear that if the government does not respond to their demand within the next seven days, they will begin a strong protest.
This demand highlights the growing frustration among the families of martyrs, who feel sidelined despite the sacrifices made during the Gen-Z Movement, which was pivotal in shaping the country’s political landscape.
The government, on the other hand, has not yet issued an official response to the committee’s demand, and it remains to be seen how this will affect the ongoing political dynamics leading up to the upcoming elections.
