Atleast 17 Died In Darjeeling Due To Landslides


KalimNews, October 5, 2025: More than 17 deaths have been reported in Mirik area of Darjeeling district due to the heavy rainfall on the night of October 4, which triggered severe landslides in the hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, and caused flooding in the plains. 

Many of the injured are rushed to different hospitals for treatment. Gorkhaland Territorial Administration, Loal Panchayat and District administration and social organisations are helping in rescue and relief works.

Of the total casualties, 14 are from Mirik Block. So far, the recovered bodies include:

  • 2 in Mirik Busty

  • 6 in Soureni Busty

  • 3 in 3 No. Block

  • 1 in Nij Gaon

  • 1 in Ward No. 9

  • 4 in Sukhia.
