‘Some Hatred Cannot Be Negotiated With’: Charlie Kirk Murder Suspect Tyler Robinson's Chilling Pre-Shooting Message
Patel said Tyler Robinson, the accused, claimed both in a text message and in a physical note that “some hatred cannot be negotiated with.”
The physical note was destroyed, but investigators have collected forensic evidence that it had existed and confirmed its contents through interviews, said the FBI chief.
“I will say what was found in terms of information: a text message exchange where he, the suspect, specifically stated that he had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and he was going to do that, and when he was asked why, he said, ‘Some hatred cannot be negotiated with,’” Patel told Fox News. He, however, did not reveal who had received the message or whether anyone had seen the written note before the attack.
The message was allegedly written prior to Wednesday’s shooting. Investigators have yet to establish whether anyone else had a role in plotting the killing. Patel said the agency will examine in detail the communications Robinson recently had with other people.
“We’ve seized multiple electronic devices from the home of the suspect and his romantic partner. We’ve got computers, we’ve got laptops, we’ve got gaming systems, we’ve got cellphones, all of that is being triaged by the FBI because that’s what we do,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported on Monday that Robinson had sent a message via the online platform Discord to friends, apparently confessing to the crime.
“It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this,” read the message sent on Thursday, a day after the shooting.
Kirk, an ally of President Donald Trump and the co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. Robinson, the suspect, was arrested a day later.
