Marijuana Worth Nearly Rs 25 Crore Seized at Delhi Airport: Customs
PTI, August 24, 2025, New Delhi : The Customs department has seized marijuana worth nearly Rs 25 crore from a passenger at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi, authorities said on Sunday.
In a post on X, the department stated that an Indian passenger, who arrived from Bangkok via Singapore on August 21, was intercepted at Terminal 3 of the airport. The passenger was diverted to the green channel for an X-ray screening of his personal items and a baggage search.
Upon examination of a blue and dark grey trolley bag, customs officers discovered 25 black polythene packets containing a green narcotic substance, suspected to be marijuana. The total weight of the substance was found to be 24,814 grams (approximately 24.8 kg).
A diagnostic test confirmed that the substance was marijuana (ganja), with an estimated value of Rs 24.8 crore.
The passenger was arrested, and the narcotics were seized. The customs department did not disclose the identity of the accused but confirmed that further investigations are ongoing.
