EC Sends Notice to Bihar Dy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha for Allegedly Holding Two Voter Cards

PTI, Patna, Aug 10, 2025 : The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday issued a notice to senior BJP leader and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha for allegedly possessing two voter cards and being registered as an elector in two different places, officials said.

Earlier in the day, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav raised the issue, alleging that the Deputy CM holds two voter ID cards and questioning what action had been taken against him.

"A notice has been served to Sinha for allegedly possessing two voter cards. He has been asked to explain why he holds two voter IDs," an official stated.

Yadav, speaking to reporters, claimed, "Vijay Kumar Sinha is a voter in two different assembly constituencies in two districts. His name appears in the Lakhisarai assembly constituency in Lakhisarai and also in the Bankipur assembly seat in Patna district."

In response, a letter issued by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for the Bankipur assembly constituency on Sunday has sought Sinha’s reply regarding his registration as a voter in two different constituencies and possession of two ID cards. The Deputy CM has been asked to respond by August 14.
