National Women's Commission Chairperson Archana Majumdar has previously expressed her dissatisfaction with the police's handling of the case, publicly criticizing their lack of transparency and action. The locked house of the victim and the absence of any clear communication from the police have only deepened the mystery.
BJP leader and MLA Agnimitra Pal, who has been actively following the developments, stated that she and her team had attempted to make contact with the victim. "We tried to reach her and sent people to her house, but it was empty. No one was there," Pal said. This has led to heightened speculation and concern about the victim’s well-being and whether she is being shielded or isolated.
However, according to Pal, Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma, during a recent meeting, confirmed that the victim is under police protection and is being given full security. “When I met Police Commissioner Manoj Verma yesterday, he said that the victim is in police custody. Since the Kolkata Police has taken charge, and when the Commissioner says he doesn’t want her to come forward and speak at the moment, we respect that decision and don’t wish to trouble her further,” Pal clarified.
Despite this assurance, the lack of a public statement or appearance by the victim continues to fuel discussions in political and civil society circles. While the police claim she is safe and protected, the absence of verifiable information has left many questioning the transparency of the investigation and the overall handling of the situation.
As the matter unfolds, the public awaits a clear and official update, hoping for assurance regarding the victim’s safety and justice in the ongoing case.
