The Week, June 25, 2025 :
Meghalaya's special investigating team probing the murder of businessman Raja Raghuvanshi recovered a pistol and ammunition from a stream in Indore.

According to officials, this weapon was suspected to have disappeared along with other items from a flat in the city where Sonam, Raja Raghuvanshi's wife and the prime accused, had stayed for several days after fleeing from Meghalaya following the murder.

"We have recovered a country-made pistol with two magazines from a stream in Indore," East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem told PTI.

Police informed that the recovery of the pistol and ammunition confirmed the suspicion about the murder plan and they are piecing every bit of evidence together.

Earlier, Rs 50,000 in cash was recovered from a box that was stored in a car in Indore. Police had arrested Sonam, her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and aides Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput and Anand Kurmi for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to murder Raja Raghuvanshi.

The newly-wed couple from Madhya Pradesh visited Meghalaya for their honeymoon on May 20. The couple had gone missing while vacationing at Sohra in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district on May 23.

A mutilated body of 29-year-old Raghuvanshi was recovered from a gorge in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills, a week after the couple went missing from a homestay. Police initially speculated that the woman might have been abducted. However, the details of the case unraveled after Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh, revealing that her husband had been murdered as per her plan, as she was in a relationship with a man who worked at her family’s business.
