Security forces in action after suspected drones sighted along international border in Jammu
The army official, however, said there is no need to be alarmed
PTI, 12.05.25 : Security forces are engaging suspected drones observed along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu region on Monday, an Army official said.
He, however, said there is no need to be alarmed.
"A small number of suspected drones have been observed near Samba in J&K. They are being engaged," he said.
Agencies: A video shared by news agency ANI showed Pakistani drones being engaged in Samba. Red streaks were seen and explosions were heard in the clip, as India intercepted the drones.
Samba was among the places near the border where India intercepted Pakistani drones on May 8. Drones were also spotted in Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, Amritsar and Pathankot a few days back, amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan launched drone attacks on several areas near the border a day after India launched Operation Sindoor, its precision strikes that came in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack
Over 100 terrorists were killed in Operation Sindoor, strikes targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The following few days saw India thwarting Pakistan's unprovoked drone attacks targeting India's military bases in Jammu, Udhampur and Pathankot.
An understanding of stopping firing along the International Border and the Line of Control (LoC) was announced by Pakistan and India on May 10, but hours later, Pakistan violated ceasefire.
Multiple blasts were heard in Srinagar, and a red alert was issued, and a blackout was enforced in the area. A drone has been shot down in Rajasthan's Pokhran as well as in Baramulla in Kashmir.
