Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, May 8, 2025, Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee delivered a firm message to the people of the state on Wednesday evening, urging them to remain calm and united in the face of recent developments along the India-Pakistan border. Her statement came in the wake of reports claiming that over a hundred Pakistani militants and their families were killed in an Indian military operation late Tuesday night.
Addressing the public from Nabanna, Mamata Banerjee reassured citizens and emphasized the need for solidarity in these challenging times. "There is no room for panic," she said, adding that the recent news should not be taken at face value. "You should not believe everything you hear. If anyone attempts to mislead the public, action will be taken against them," she warned, referring to the spread of misinformation.
The Chief Minister also highlighted a recent meeting held by the Ministry of Home Affairs, which included discussions with Chief Ministers from various border states. While she refrained from revealing the details of the discussions, Mamata stressed that the focus should remain on unity. "This is not the time for divisions. We are all here to protect our country," she said, emphasizing the importance of collective action against terrorism.
Mamata Banerjee made it clear that the fight against terrorism transcends religious or sectarian lines. "This is not about religion or community; it is about safeguarding Mother India," she declared. She also urged the media to refrain from sensationalism, emphasizing that the focus should be on national security rather than increasing television ratings. "This is the time to protect the country. We must stand together, shoulder to shoulder, like our brave soldiers," Mamata concluded.
The Chief Minister’s remarks reflect a call for national unity, urging citizens to stay focused on the collective goal of protecting the country in these tense times. Further developments on the situation are expected as authorities continue their efforts to address the rising security concerns.
