Attacks on Awantipura, Jammu, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj were also foiled. Indian security forces are recovering the debris of the attacks to prove that Pakistan is behind them
The Week. News, May 08, 2025 : With Operation Sindoor entering Day 2, India on the intervening night of May 7-8 thwarted Islamabad's attempts to target Indian military installations in Srinagar, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh.
Other places targeted by Pakistan include Awantipura, Jammu, Pathankot, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj. Pakistan reportedly tried to damage the Indian radar system by sending loitering munitions. India used its Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems to neutralise these attacks.
News agency ANI reported that Indian Air Force S-400 Sudarshan Chakra air defence missile systems were fired against the targets directed at India. The security forces are recovering the debris of the attacks to prove that Pakistan is behind them.
In retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence units of HQ-9 air defence missile launchers at several locations in Pakistan, said reports.
The Ministry of Defence also confirmed that the Air Defence System in Lahore was neutralised. This is line with earlier reports confirming that India targeted multiple cities in Pakistan using drones, including Karachi and Rawalpindi.
"Indian response has been in the same domain with the same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an air defence system at Lahore has been neutralised," said a statement released by the defence ministry.
This comes as Pakistan continues to resort to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control in Kupwara, Poonch, Rajouri, and Baramulla.
Pakistan military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said on Thursday that Indian drones continue to be sent into Pakistani airspace. "India will continue to pay dearly for this naked aggression," he added.
