ECI to Launch Unified Digital Platform 'ECINET' for Electoral Services
PR, KalimNews, New Delhi, May 4, 2025 : In a landmark step toward digital integration and service enhancement, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is set to launch ECINET, a one-stop digital platform designed to streamline all electoral services and processes. The upcoming application will unify more than 40 existing mobile and web-based applications currently in use by the ECI.
Aimed at improving accessibility and operational efficiency for voters, election officials, political parties, and other stakeholders, ECINET will feature an upgraded user interface (UI) and user experience (UX). This new platform will reduce the need for users to manage multiple apps and login credentials, offering a single digital touchpoint for all electoral-related activities.
The initiative was conceptualized by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar during the Conference of Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in March 2025, attended by Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi.
According to the ECI, ECINET is in an advanced stage of development and currently undergoing rigorous testing to ensure smooth performance, ease of use, and robust cybersecurity. It will consolidate widely used applications like the Voter Helpline App, Voter Turnout App, cVIGIL, Suvidha 2.0, ESMS, Saksham, and KYC App, which together account for over 5.5 crore downloads.
The platform is expected to serve close to 100 crore electors and support a wide range of officials including over 10.5 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), around 15 lakh Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from political parties, 45 lakh polling officials, 15,597 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 4,123 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), and 767 District Election Officers (DEOs).
ECINET will allow users to access electoral data across devices. All information will be input exclusively by authorized ECI officials to ensure maximum data accuracy. In cases of discrepancies, the data recorded in statutory forms will take precedence.
The development of ECINET follows an extensive consultation process involving election officials from all 36 States and Union Territories, and a review of 76 ECI publications encompassing over 9,000 pages of electoral laws, instructions, and handbooks.
The platform’s legal compliance will be guided by the Representation of the People Acts of 1950 and 1951, the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960, the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, and other official guidelines issued by the Commission.
The ECI is expected to roll out ECINET soon, marking a significant leap in the digitization and transparency of India's electoral processes.
