Adulterated Oil Factory Busted in Ranaghat; Fake Oil, Equipment Seized in Police Raid

The raid, led by food safety officers in collaboration with local police, resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of adulterated oil and oil production equipment.

According to sources, the factory, allegedly owned by Bhavesh Chowdhury, was producing counterfeit edible oil by mixing harmful chemicals and packaging it with fake labels of reputed brands to deceive consumers. Acting on intelligence inputs, the authorities formed a dedicated team and launched the raid, which lasted several hours.

During the operation, investigators uncovered substantial evidence of the illegal operation, including drums of chemically adulterated oil and machinery used for blending and bottling the fake product. Stickers and packaging materials mimicking those of trusted edible oil companies were also recovered.

A specific case has been registered against the factory owner under relevant sections of the law. While no arrests have been made yet, police sources confirm that an investigation is actively underway, and legal proceedings will follow based on the findings.

This raid follows a series of similar operations conducted recently in the Ranaghat Police District, where several units involved in the production and distribution of adulterated oil were exposed. Despite ongoing enforcement, some traders continue such practices, risking public health for monetary gain.

Officials have reiterated that the drive against food adulteration will continue with full force. Authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious food production or sale activities in their locality.
