Pahalgam Attack Fallout: 48 Tourist Spots Temporarily Closed in Kashmir

 The Jammu and Kashmir government said this is a temporary measure taken as a precaution

TW, April 29, 2025 :  The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the temporary closure of 48 tourist destinations across Kashmir, out of a total of 87, due to security concerns following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people, mostly tourists, dead.

The attack took place at Baisaran, a meadow accessible by foot or pony, four kilometres from Pahalgam.

The tourist spots that have been shut include: Yousmarg, Tosa Maidan, Doodhpathri, Aharbal, Kausarnag, Bangus, Kariwan Diver Chandigam, Bangus Valley, Wular/Watlab, Rampora, Rajpora, Charar, Mundij-Hamam-Markoot Waterfall, Khampoo, Bosnia, Vijitop, Sun Temple, Verinag Garden, Sinthan Top, Margan Top, Akad Park, Habba Khatoon Point, Baba Reshi, Ringawali, Gogaldara, Baderkote, Shrunz Waterfall, Kaman Post, Namblan Waterfall, Eco Park Khadniyar, Sangarwani, Jamia Masjid, Badamwari, Rajouri Kadal Hotel Kanaaz, Aali Kadal JJ Food Restaurant, IVORY Hotel, Padshapal Resorts and Restaurant, Cherry Tree Resort (Faqir Gujri), North Cliff Café and Retreat by Stay Pattern, Forest Hill Cottage, Eco Village Resort (Dara), Astanmarg View Point, Astanmarg Paragliding Site, Mamneth and Mahadev Hills, Buddhist Monastery, Dachigam (beyond the Trout Farm/Fisheries Farm), and Astanpora (including Qayam Gah Resort, Lachpatri, Hung Park, and Naranag).

Officials have confirmed that these closures are temporary and taken as a precaution. The remaining destinations remain open and are being secured with adequate safety measures for visitors.

Due to the Pahalgam incident, hundreds of tourists cut short their visit to Kashmir. The government arranged additional flights between Delhi and Srinagar and a special train from Katra to Delhi for the stranded tourists.

The Pahalgam attack has crippled the tourism industry with many tourists cancelling their visits.

Passenger traffic at Srinagar International Airport has seen a sharp decline, with air travel to the region significantly affected as safety concerns deter tourists.

Meanwhile, security forces have continued raids on suspected houses for the second consecutive week.
