
Security Forces Arrest KCP Cadres, Recover Weapons and Explosives in Multiple Operations in Manipur

Agencies, Imphal, March 31, 2025 : In a series of coordinated operations on March 29 and 30, 2025, security forces in Manipur arrested several active members of the banned militant group KCP (PWG) and recovered a significant cache of weapons and explosives. The operations were conducted across multiple districts, with forces focusing on vulnerable areas in both the hills and valleys of the region.
Sources of Manipur police informed that on March 29, security forces arrested one active cadre of KCP (PWG), identified as Salam Malemnganba Singh, also known as Wanglen (23), from a field near Upoki Village, located on the eastern side of Tiddim Road in Bishnupur District. A mobile phone was seized from his possession. The following day, on March 30, another KCP (PWG) cadre, Thoidam Suresh Singh, also known as Lemba (34), was apprehended from Ningsingkhul in Jiribam District.
During these operations, security forces conducted extensive search and area domination missions in various districts, uncovering a large haul of weapons and ammunition. In the Thangjing hill forest area under Churachandpur District, they recovered multiple firearms and explosives, including a country-made rifle, bolt-action rifles, a .22 pistol, three country-made mortars, a hand grenade, a helmet, two wireless sets with chargers, a high-explosive bomb, live ammunition, empty shell casings, and 500 grams of gunpowder.
In another operation in the general area of Chagoubung under Kangpokpi District, security forces recovered a country-made 9mm pistol, four country-made single-barrel bolt-action rifles, live ammunition, a locally made cannon (Pumpi), and three hand grenades.
On March 29, security forces also arrested Sanasam Sonamit Singh, also known as Chekla, Sonamani, or Naoba (27), from his residence in Sawombung Maning Leikai under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District.
Further, during operations in the Molnom-Senam area under Tengnoupal District, security forces recovered three country-made heavy mortar launchers, five metal IEDs, one IED, five kilograms of plastic IEDs, two pistols with magazines, ammunition for AK-47 and SLR rifles, 200 grams of gunpowder, two helmets, and two BPJ harnesses.
As part of the operation, five metal IEDs and one plastic IED were destroyed on-site, and the remnants were deposited at the Tengnoupal Police Station.
These ongoing operations highlight the persistent threat posed by insurgent groups in the region, with security forces intensifying efforts to neutralize such threats and recover illegal arms and explosives.
