Calcutta High Court Extends Interim Bail of Sujoy Krishna Bhadra in Recruitment Corruption Case

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, Kolkata, March 24, 2025: The Calcutta High Court has extended the interim bail of Sujoy Krishna Bhadra, also known as Kalighat's Kaku, in connection with the ongoing recruitment corruption case. The division bench, comprising Justice Arijit Banerjee, granted the extension until the end of April, with the next hearing scheduled for April 22.

During the hearing, Bhadra's lawyer, Sabyasachi Banerjee, raised multiple complaints regarding the presence of central forces at his client's residence. He alleged that the forces were occupying the house with the air conditioning running 24 hours a day and using the household toilet, which Bhadra objected to. The lawyer requested that the forces be provided with an alternative restroom facility, located outside the house.

In response, the court ruled that the security personnel would have to stay temporarily outside the house, with a tarpaulin arrangement made for them to sit in the heat. Additionally, the court instructed that fans be provided to ensure their comfort during the hot weather.

Sujoy Krishna Bhadra, who has been under surveillance by the central forces since his bail was granted, was allowed to have doctors, relatives, and a banker visit his residence in Kalighat. The Calcutta High Court had initially granted bail after considering Bhadra's physical condition but stipulated that he could not leave his house except for medical reasons, and any travel outside the premises would require permission from the CBI.

Following this ruling, Bhadra's uncle, who resides in Behala, continues to stay at the Kalighat residence. The court's recent extension of his interim bail provides him with some relief while the investigation continues.
