Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, Kolkata, January 17, 2025 : Aparna Patra, a 25-year-old Trinamool Congress member, remains under intensive care after falling into a coma following a cesarean section on January 6. Doctors at Ajanta Nursing Home, Chunchura, where she was admitted, revealed that 80% of her brain had been affected. Despite the critical condition, a dedicated medical team continues her treatment with faith in science and divine intervention.
Since Aparna’s hospitalization in the ICCU, the incident has drawn widespread concern and support. On January 7, MP Rachana Banerjee, MLA Tapan Dasgupta, and Chunchura MLA Asit Majumdar visited Ajanta Nursing Home to inquire about her condition and offer their prayers. Her family, friends, and party colleagues, along with villagers, have been collectively hoping for her swift recovery.
On January 11, MLA Asit Majumdar returned to the hospital, accompanied by Dr. Mihir Banerjee, a renowned physician from Hooghly district, to assess Aparna’s progress. The visit was also attended by Sugandha Gram Panchayat President Subrata Ghosh, Regional Trinamool Congress President Bidyut Sur, Aparna’s husband Totan Patra, and her family members.
Speaking to the media, Totan Patra expressed his gratitude to the medical team for their relentless efforts. He stated, “Aparna is showing signs of improvement, and I am praying to God that no one—friend or foe—ever faces such a tragedy.”
MLA Asit Majumdar echoed these sentiments, saying, “Aparna’s recovery is my deepest prayer. Her young child deserves to grow up with the love and care of their mother.” Regional Trinamool Congress President Bidyut Sur highlighted the exceptional care provided at Ajanta Nursing Home, saying, “This hospital has saved many lives. I commend the doctors and hope Aparna returns home soon, bringing joy to her family, especially her child.”
Dr. Mihir Banerjee, reflecting on the severity of Aparna’s condition upon admission, acknowledged that her gradual recovery is nothing short of a medical marvel. “Her case has been a testament to teamwork and dedication,” he noted. Supporting this view, the owner of Ajanta Nursing Home remarked that the institution prioritizes humanity over profit. “We are committed to serving people. Business comes later,” he said, adding a personal prayer for Aparna’s recovery.
As Aparna Patra fights for her life, her case has become a symbol of resilience, medical expertise, and the collective hope of a community bound by empathy and support.
