KalimNews, Kalimpong, January 7, 2025 :  The final voters list for the Kalimpong Assembly constituency was released on Monday, following the special summary revision of photo electoral rolls 2025 that concluded last month. District Magistrate Balasubramaniam T. shared the details while addressing the media, providing insights into the updated demographics of the constituency.

The updated list reveals that Kalimpong now has a total of 219,848 registered voters. A significant demographic pattern has emerged, with the number of women voters surpassing that of men. The constituency boasts 111,514 women voters compared to 108,334 men, reflecting a notable shift in voter composition. Furthermore, there are 1,945 service voters, which includes armed forces personnel and other individuals serving in various government categories.

The gender ratio per thousand voters stands at 1029, a positive indicator of gender parity in the constituency. The electoral population (EP) ratio, which is the ratio of total electors to the projected population, is 0.73, signifying a reasonable enrollment relative to the area's population.

The voter list also indicates a net increase of 2,192 new voters, while 1,978 voters were removed from the list due to various reasons such as relocation, death, or other discrepancies. In addition to this, the list also highlights the inclusion of new voters in the 18-19 age group, with 5,590 individuals registering for the first time. There is also a focus on inclusivity, as the number of persons with disabilities (PWD) in the constituency is recorded at 2,660, with 1,457 men and 1,113 women in this category.

The senior citizens’ segment also forms an important part of the voter base, with 1,407 individuals aged above 85 years, while eight centenarians (those above 100 years of age) have also been included in the voters list.

This comprehensive revision and update of the voters list marks a significant step in ensuring a fair and accurate electoral process, while also reflecting the region’s commitment to inclusivity and gender equality in its democratic processes.
