US Election 2024: Donald Trump Inches Closer to Presidency (267 0f 270) as He Wins Key Battleground States

Don't Miss

LIVE UPDATES, AP & Agencies, November 6, 2024: Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has dramatically surged toward victory in the 2024 US presidential election after being projected to win key battleground states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina. With these wins, Trump’s electoral vote count has now risen to 267, just three shy of the crucial 270 electoral votes needed to secure the presidency.

During a speech at West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump declared, "I’m your 45th and 47th President," signaling his confidence as he moves closer to clinching the White House. He added, “I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president. I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve.”

As the race continues to unfold, Trump has secured victories in over 30 states, including pivotal swing states like Texas, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, and more. His success in these traditionally Republican-leaning states, coupled with his narrow wins in key battlegrounds, has propelled him within striking distance of the presidency.

With Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania in his column, Trump now has a commanding lead in the electoral count. If he wins one more state, he will officially surpass the 270 electoral votes required to claim victory. Projections suggest he could soon take Arizona or Wisconsin, both of which remain closely contested.

On the other side, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is trailing with 224 electoral votes as the final votes are still being counted. While she has secured victories in 20 states, including California and other strong Democratic territories, she has failed to capture the essential battlegrounds that Trump has won. As of now, Harris' path to victory hinges on a remarkable turn in the remaining states, many of which are still too close to call.

Despite this, Harris remains steadfast in her commitment to counting every vote. Democratic co-chair Cedric Richmond addressed supporters, saying, “We still have votes to count. We still have states that have not been called yet. We will continue overnight to fight to make sure that every vote is counted, that every voice has spoken.” Harris, however, is not expected to speak publicly tonight, with her campaign indicating that she will address the nation tomorrow.

In addition to the presidential race, the Republican Party is also projected by AP to regain control of the US Senate, marking a significant shift in the balance of power in Washington.

While Trump’s path to victory is nearly complete, several states, particularly those with high numbers of absentee ballots, may take days to finalize. Swing states like Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin have absentee voting procedures that could extend the counting process, though it’s anticipated that if either Trump or Harris secures additional victories in these states, the race will effectively be decided.

America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate – wow that’s good, says Trump

PTI, West Palm Beach (US), 06.11.24 : Former President Donald Trump addressed his supporters on Wednesday thanking them for giving Republicans an unprecedented and powerful mandate, and said this moment will help the country "heal".

“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honour of being elected your 47th president, and your 45th president,” he said.

“America has given us an unprecedented and powerful mandate. We have taken back control of the Senate – wow that’s good,” Trump told his supporters in Florida.

This moment will help the country "heal", he said.

According to projections, Trump is all set to receive 270 electoral college votes blocking Harris' chance to win the polls.

According to races called by the Associated Press up to 1 pm, 267 electoral votes had gone to Republican candidate Trump and 214 to Democratic Party's Harris.

“And the Senate races in Montana, Nevada, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were all won by the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement they helped so much,” Trump said.

“The number of victories in the Senate was absolutely incredible,” he added.

"I will fight for you with every breath in my body, will not rest until we have delivered strong, safe and prosperous America," said Trump.
