Kailash Rai to Continue Fighting for Rights of People
YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, NOVEMBER 24, 2024 : In-charge of the Mirik Information and Cultural Department, Kailash Rai, a musician and movie director, has expressed his determination to continue fighting for the rights of the people.
Following his transfer to Darjeeling by the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) authorities, Rai said in a news conference on Sunday that the transfer order had come after he had spoken in favor of tea garden workers.
Rai had visited Longview tea garden to support the workers, who were demanding a 20 percent bonus. He had also attended a non-political meeting in Mirik to understand the situation in the hills.
Rai said, however, that he would go to Darjeeling for his new assignment. The GTA authorities stated that the transfer was a routine one.
