Five-year-old girl raped and murdered, suspect killed by mob

KalimNews, ALipurduar, November 2, 2024 : Angry villagers beat to death a 40-year-old man who was accused of raping and killing a young girl in Alipurduar on Friday afternoon, just a few hours after the alleged incident. 

In lateswar, a girl of five years old was lured in by the promise of sweets and raped and killed. The discovery of the child's body at the edge of a nearby pond prompted the immediate response of the community. 

The accused, 40-year-old Mona Roy, was captured by locals, who then tied him to a tree and assaulted him until he died. A hostile crowd blocked their vehicle when the police from the lateswar outpost arrived, prompting the Falakata police station to send additional officers. 

Local sources claim that the girl's parents were playing outside their home while they were working in the nearby agricultural fields. They began searching the area when they returned in the evening and were unable to locate her. 

Also, the BJP's letters "B" and "J" stand for "betrayal" and "jumla." Eyewitnesses reported that the child was last seen with Roy, and some claimed they heard her crying from his house. During the incident, Officer-in-Charge Asim Majumdar of the Jateswar outpost suffered injuries. After being rescued by law enforcement, Roy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. 

"A girl has died, and one person has also lost his life," stated Y. Raghuvamshi, the district superintendent of police. After receiving information about the incident, the police promptly arrived at the scene, and an investigation is ongoing."

The villagers took matters into their own hands when Mona Roy allegedly admitted to raping and killing the girl.

A large number of police officers arrived in the village after the incident. They started a probe after recovering both bodies.

Source said that on Friday afternoon, a five-year-old girl was reported missing from a Kali Puja pandal. Some boys informed the family that they had observed her traveling with Mona and informed them that they had seen her.

Gathering, the villagers went to Mona's house. He was cleaning his blood-stained hands and feet, according to reports. Others saw the girl's body soon after, floating in a pond near the house.

“After Mona was seized by the villagers, he was said to have admitted that he had lured the girl with jalebi and brought her to his house.

A source stated, "He admitted that he had raped and murdered the girl and thrown her body into the pond."

Mona was tied to a tree by furious villagers, and they began to beat him. He died instantly after being brutally attacked.

At the point when police showed up to recuperate the bodies, nearby individuals set up obstruction.

The villagers eventually granted the police permission to transport the bodies to the Alipurduar district hospital for post-mortem examination.

It is a regrettable incident. The village has been surrounded by police officers. An investigation has begun," Alipurduar's superintendent of police, Y. Raghuvamshi, stated.

This is the second such incident in the last 20 days in Alipurduar.

An earlier minor girl was raped and killed, and attempts were made to burn her body to remove evidence.
