
Tragic Road Accident in Rajasthan Claims 12 Lives, Including 8 Children

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 20, 2024, New Delhi: A devastating road accident late Saturday night near Sunipur in Dholpur district, Rajasthan, resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including 8 children, after a bus collided with a tempo.
The tragic incident was confirmed by Bari police officer Shibalhari Meena. The victims of the collision were identified as Irfan, 38, also known as Bunty, his wife Julie, 34, their daughter Asma, 14, and son Salman, 8. Other family members and relatives who lost their lives include Parveen, 32; Zarina, 35; Shakir, 6; Shanif, 9; Azan, 5; Ashiana, 10; Sufi, 7; and Danish, 1.
According to reports, the victims, residents of Bari, were returning home from a family function in Barauli village, located in Sarmathura police station's jurisdiction, when the accident occurred. The tempo they were traveling in was struck by a speeding sleeper coach bus on the national highway. Eyewitnesses stated that the bus was traveling at such high speed that the driver was unable to control it, leading to the horrific collision.
Police personnel from the Bari police station rushed to the scene immediately after the crash and began the grim task of retrieving the bodies from the mangled remains of the tempo. Bloodied bodies were seen hanging from shattered windows, a sight that shocked onlookers. The deceased were taken to Bari Government Hospital for post-mortem examination, while the severely injured driver and another passenger were rushed to the district hospital for urgent medical care.
In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also announced financial compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the incident.
The accident has left the community in shock, and authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, focusing on the bus driver’s potential negligence and the high speed at which the vehicle was traveling.
