Tensions Rise as By-Elections Loom in Bengal Amid RG Kar Case Controversy

Don't Miss

aby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 28, 2024, Kolkata: As the political landscape heats up ahead of the November 13 by-elections in six assembly constituencies of West Bengal—including Naihati, Madarihat, and Taldangra—the RG Kar case continues to cast a shadow over the electoral atmosphere.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has already unveiled its list of candidates, and campaigning is in full swing. Jadavpur MP Saayoni Ghosh took a strong stance against individuals he claims are attempting to tarnish the party’s reputation. “Those who seek to defame the TMC for personal gain and extort money under the guise of public service will face consequences,” Ghosh asserted, emphasizing that party leaders should prioritize integrity over personal profit.

Ghosh praised party leaders Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee for their dedication to building the TMC, declaring, “There is no room in this party for those who are merely out to fill their own pockets.”

In Bhanar, MLA Shaukat Molla highlighted the government's efforts to support the underprivileged, stating that 17,000 housing units have been approved for the poor. Ghosh urged party members to avoid exploiting the vulnerable during this process. “I implore our leaders: do not ask for money from a poor person for a house. If anyone does, I encourage you to confront them directly and report back to us,” he urged.

Molla further claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is personally funding these housing initiatives, despite facing considerable challenges in governance. As the by-elections approach, the TMC appears determined to project a united front amidst growing tensions.
