JP Nadda Visits Kolkata for Durga Puja Amid Ongoing Protests by Junior Doctors
Don't Miss
Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 10, 2024, Kolkata : BJP National President and Union Health Minister JP Nadda has arrived in Kolkata, warmly welcomed as the "son-in-law of Bengal" during the auspicious Durga Puja celebrations. Nadda began his visit at the iconic Belur Math this morning, coinciding with the festivities of Saptami, the seventh day of the festival.
Following his visit to Belur Math, Nadda attended the Durga Puja celebrations at Santosh Mitra Square, hosted by BJP Councilor Sajal Ghosh. He was accompanied by prominent party leaders, including the Leader of the Opposition, Subhendu Adhikari, and BJP state president Sukant Majumder.
Speaking to the media, Nadda expressed his delight at being in Kolkata during Durga Puja. "Happy Durga Puja to all the people of Bengal. The blessings of Goddess Durga provide us with the strength to fight injustice. Justice will prevail," he stated, invoking the spirit of the festival.
However, he also emphasized his intention to refrain from discussing politics during the celebrations, saying, "I will not discuss politics on the day of Puja. The fight for justice in Bengal will continue, and iniquity will end." Nadda concluded his remarks by seeking blessings for everyone.
While Nadda's visit brought festive cheer, it coincided with ongoing protests by junior doctors in West Bengal. The medical professionals are currently on a hunger strike, demanding improvements in health service infrastructure and enhanced safety measures. Their protests highlight a growing concern within the healthcare system, adding a layer of complexity to the festive atmosphere.
As Kolkata embraces the spirit of Durga Puja, the juxtaposition of celebration and protest underscores the multifaceted challenges facing the state, particularly in the realm of public health and safety.
