Heavy rains in Gangetic Bengal and Odisha likely on October 23-24, says IMD
Fresh upper air cyclonic circulation very likely to form over North Andaman Sea around 20th October 20, says weather bulletin
TT, Calcutta, 18.10.24 : A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over central Bay of Bengal around October 22 and cause isolated heavy rainfall in Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on October 23 and 24, the India Meteorological Department said in a bulletin released on Friday afternoon.
“A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation very likely to form over North Andaman Sea around 20th October. Under its influence, a low pressure area likely to form over Central Bay of Bengal around 22nd October, thereafter, it is likely to move northwestwards and intensify further into a depression by 24th October,” the IMD bulletin said.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over the Andaman & Nicobar islands on October 20 and 21 and Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha on October 23 and 24, it said.
“Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall over Andaman & Nicobar Islands;
isolated to Scattered light to moderate rainfall very likely over rest of the region during the week,” it said about east India.
Isolated heavy rainfall is also likely to continue over parts of south peninsular India during the next three to four days, Friday’s bulletin said.
