Controversy Erupts at Trinamool Congress Vijaya Conference as MLA Misnames Chief Minister

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 30, 2024, Burdwan : A significant stir was created during the Trinamool Congress's Vijaya conference at the Sanskarti Lokmanch in Ketugram when local MLA Sheikh Shahnawaz Mandal mistakenly referred to Abhishek Banerjee, the party’s All India General Secretary and Diamond Harbor MP, as the "Chief Minister of Bengal."

While addressing the audience, Sheikh Shahnawaz stated, “Following the instructions of the Chief Minister of Bengal, Abhishek Banerjee, we will celebrate Eid with a bang along with Durga Puja and Kali Puja.” His comment prompted immediate reactions from fellow party leaders on stage, who quickly pointed out the error.

Realizing his mistake, Sheikh Shahnawaz corrected himself, clarifying that the Chief Minister is, in fact, Mamata Banerjee. He praised Mamata Banerjee’s efforts to advance the state, claiming, “Our Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is trying every moment to move Bengal forward. But Mahisasur's party is creating chaos throughout the state.” He urged party members to remain vigilant in the face of opposition challenges.

Despite the mix-up, Sheikh Shahnawaz refrained from commenting further on the implications of his initial statement. The incident has sparked discussions among political analysts and party supporters, who view the MLA's misnomer as significant in the context of the party's hierarchy and future leadership dynamics.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, this gaffe at the Vijaya conference has opened a dialogue about the roles and recognition of key figures within the Trinamool Congress.
