Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, October 1, 2024, Hooghly: In a significant crackdown on illegal fireworks, the Chanditala Police Station of Hooghly District Rural Police has successfully recovered four quintals of banned sound sticks during a recent operation. This action comes just ahead of the Sharad Utsav festival, as authorities intensify efforts to curb the use of hazardous materials.
Acting on reliable intelligence, officers from Chanditala conducted a raid in the Khorasrai-Begumpur area. The operation led to the seizure of an extensive cache of prohibited materials, including 2 quintals of illegal betel, 75 kilograms of soda, 60 kilograms of sulfur, 25 kilograms of aluminum powder, and 15 kilograms of gunpowder.
Police officials confirmed that a total of 3.75 quintals of illegal fireworks and related materials were confiscated. All recovered items are slated for destruction in accordance with legal protocols, with the incineration set to take place on Tuesday.
Authorities are reminding the public of the dangers associated with the use of illegal fireworks and are urging citizens to report any suspicious activities. The Chanditala Police remain committed to ensuring a safe and enjoyable festive season for the community.
