Yuvraj’s Mother Lata Banerjee Calls Mamata Banerjee Amid Flood District Visit
Don't Miss
Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 19, 2024, Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, while visiting flood-affected areas, received an unexpected call from Lata Banerjee, mother of Abhishek Banerjee, also known as Yuvraj. The Chief Minister was assessing the flood situation in Panshkura, East Medinipur, before heading to Udaynarayanpur in Howrah, when the call came from her residence.
Speaking to reporters during her visit, Mamata Banerjee revealed that Lata Banerjee had phoned her to update her on the rising water levels around their home in Kalighat. "Lata, who lives with me, called and said the water has reached the last step of our house. The Ganga is swelling, and the streets around Kalighat are submerged," the Chief Minister shared.
Mamata Banerjee expressed her concern over the situation, noting the persistent flooding in the area. "I told Lata to move to a safer place as quickly as possible," she said. Describing the severity of the flooding, she remarked, "There is so much water, and it might continue for another day or two. With the full moon just passed, it will take three to four days for the water to recede if we get some sunshine."
The Chief Minister’s visit to the flood-hit districts comes amid widespread devastation caused by heavy rains and the release of water from nearby reservoirs, affecting multiple districts across the state. Her communication with Lata Banerjee highlights the personal impact of the floods, even on high-ranking officials and their families.
