Project to Steer Students Away from Addiction and Gambling Launched in Kalimpong
Yowan Mothay, EOI, September 12, 2024, Kalimpong: Project LAKSHA was inaugurated in the Kalimpong district on Thursday, marking the beginning of an initiative aimed at steering students away from harmful habits such as drug addiction and gambling, and guiding them towards a brighter and more promising future.
Speaking at the inauguration, District Magistrate of Kalimpong, Balasubramaniam T, emphasized the administration's commitment to student welfare and the importance of such initiatives in shaping a healthy future for the youth.
The Superintendent of Police of Kalimpong also addressed the students, assuring them of the police's full support in achieving their educational and career goals.
As part of Project LAKSHA, the District Magistrate announced several key initiatives to support students.
These include the introduction of a monthly competitive examination magazine available in the district library and the provision of free coaching for UPSC aspirants at Kalimpong College.
In addition, free coaching for the West Bengal Civil Service and allied services will be offered at the Kalimpong I Block office.
