Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 14, 2024 - Kolkata: A 58-year-old man was injured in a sudden explosion in a densely populated area of central Kolkata on Saturday afternoon. The blast occurred around 2 PM at the intersection of Blochman Street and SN Banerjee Road, sending shockwaves through the area.
The injured man, identified as Bapi Das, was immediately rushed to NRS Medical College Hospital with injuries to his right wrist. The local police, led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Taltala Police Station, responded swiftly to the scene, where they found a plastic bag at the entrance of Blochman Street, prompting authorities to cordon off the area with security tape.
The bomb disposal squad was called in to inspect the suspicious bag and secure the area. Once they cleared the site, normal traffic resumed.
Bapi Das, who recently moved to live on the footpath of SN Banerjee Road after leaving his home in Ichhapur, is currently undergoing treatment at NRS Medical College. Hospital officials have stated that more time is needed for his recovery.
