Left Leader Meenakshi Mukherjee Summoned by CBI, Makes Bold Statements After Interrogation
Don't Miss
Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, September 19, 2024, Kolkata : Left leader Meenakshi Mukherjee was summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and promptly appeared at their office for questioning. While political jabs and sarcasm came from the Trinamool Congress regarding the CBI's summons, Mukherjee’s response after the two-hour interrogation made waves.
Sources revealed that Mukherjee was questioned for approximately two hours. The interrogation is linked to her involvement in a previous incident where she had protested against the handling of Abhaya's death, a case that had sparked widespread outrage. Mukherjee had vocally opposed the authorities’ actions when they were moving the body, and since then, she has remained at the forefront of the fight for justice.
Emerging from the CBI office, Mukherjee made strong and defiant remarks, stating, "I have fully cooperated with the investigation. The people of this country, and particularly this state, are seeking justice for this horrific incident. If called again, I will come. I want the culprits to be punished. We are ready to support the investigation in every way possible."
She also reiterated her commitment to both the legal and public struggle, saying, "The fight for justice will not only be fought in court but also on the streets."
The CBI's focus on Mukherjee comes at a time when the state government is already feeling the heat from ongoing investigations by central agencies, raising speculation that this could further intensify pressure on the ruling administration. Mukherjee’s firm stance signals that she and the Left will continue their battle for justice both inside and outside the legal framework
