Five Arrested in Murder of Supervisor Pappu Das in Bandel

Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews | September 18, 2024, Hooghly : In a shocking incident, a 45-year-old supervisor named Pappu Das was brutally beaten to death outside the Jupiter Railway Wagon and Machinery Factory in the Dunlop Sahaganj area of Chunchura, Hooghly district, last Monday. The brutal attack has sent ripples of concern through the local community.
Upon receiving news of the incident, a significant police contingent from the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate, along with officers from the Chunchura Police Station and Bandel Police Post, quickly responded to the scene. Despite their efforts to rescue Pappu, he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Bandel ESI Hospital.
In a swift move, police arrested two suspects—Bunty Das and Subarna Kumar Das, both residents of Shyamsundar South Titagar—on Tuesday. They were subsequently presented before the Chunchura District Headquarters Court, where interrogation began immediately.
The police intensified their investigation, conducting searches in various locations, which led to the arrest of two additional suspects: Baban Singh and Biki Majhi, from the Bandel area. With these arrests, a total of five individuals have now been apprehended in connection with the murder of Pappu Das.
Local residents of Bandel expressed their gratitude to the Chandannagar Police Commissionerate for their prompt action in apprehending the suspects within just 12 hours of the crime. The community is hopeful that these swift arrests will bring justice for Pappu Das and restore a sense of safety in the area.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working to uncover the motives behind this heinous act and ensure that all those involved are held accountable.
