Anit Thapa promises to take up the issue of tribal status for 11 left-out communities

Don't Miss

YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, MIRIK, SEPTEMBER 9, 2024: The Bharatiya Gorkha Prajatantrik Morcha celebrated its fourth foundation day at the Alay Ground in Mirik on Monday. The party flag was hoisted by BGPM Central President Anit Thapa. He was given a traditional welcome with cultural instruments as part of the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, Anit Thapa claimed the BGPM was the last hope of the Gorkha community. He said the issue of tribal status for 11 left-out communities had been used as a political stunt by different political parties at the time of the election. The issue would now be taken up by the BGPM to achieve the objective. He claimed that the issues raised by the BGPM had all been achieved. The BGPM would carry this demand and achieve it too.

Delimitation would be happening in 2026. After delimitation, the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration area, including Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong, and Mirik, should have nine MLAs and one M.P. He said everything was possible if done in a democratic way. The way of violence and unrest should not be followed. The BGPM had arranged many appointments in the Education Department; teachers as well as Group C and Group D staff. Voluntary teachers had been given permanent appointments. GTA had appointed many primary teachers.

He said the GTA was looking after the needs of the Teesta flood victims. He announced assistance for Teesta flood victims and asked GTA Sabhasads to collect the details of the victims and submit these to the GTA authorities so that houses could be built for them according to their own choice and design. He said the BGPM had experienced many ups and downs and had completed three years since the foundation of the party. Now the BGPM wanted to develop the future.
