Don't Miss
PRASHANT ACHARYA, YAWAN GURUNG, EOI, SILIGURI / MIRIK, AUGUST 2, 2024: UPSC topper from Darjeeling Jayasree Pradhan, who has ranked 52, has been allocated to the Indian Foreign Service. Goutam Thakuri, who has ranked 391 in the UPSC examination, has been allocated to the Indian Revenue Service, while Ajay Moktan, who has ranked 494, has been allocated to the Indian Administrative Service.
Jayasree Pradhan, an alumnus of Loreto Convent, Darjeeling, had secured 91 percent in her ICSE and then gone to Bengaluru for a law degree. This was her second attempt in the UPSC examination. She had first attempted to crack the UPSC as soon as she had completed her law course.
Jayasree, a Robertson Road resident, had developed an interest in the civil services while studying law. Since law was intertwined with administration, her interest had grown.
On Friday afternoon, Naxalbari BDO Pranab Chattaraj reached M M Terai village under Upper Bagdogra Gram Panchayat and felicitated Ajay Moktan with a felicitation letter sent by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and offered a flower bouquet and traditional ‘khada.’ The BDO also conveyed the message sent by the Chief Minister from Nabanna.
Another topper from Bagdogra, Goutam Thakuri, was out of station and his mother was not well. The BDO decided to reach their house with the felicitation letter from the Chief Minister later.
Moktan, the youngest son of a farmer, had struggled a lot to achieve the goal of becoming IAS. BDO Pranab Chattaraj said, “On behalf of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, I felicitated Ajay and Thakuri, who are from Naxalbari block. I really feel proud and happy that both the toppers are from my block.”
